i fall asleep in hospital parking lots
and awake in your house
It had been awhile since Persia had been to a park. That was a damn shame in her opinion. She liked parks, a lot. They were peaceful, especially at night when no one else was around. Dangerous perhaps, but she was never one to be that cautious. Despite the fact that London was definitely the place to be cautious. Ah well nothing had happened to her yet. London was turning out to be much more boring than Manhattan. Stupid mom, she muttered tossing a dandelion into the air above her. It fluttered back now hitting her on the nose. With a small sneeze she picked it up and looked at it before blowing all the little seeds off. She made the same wish she had always made since she was five and her mom told her that dandelions could grant wishes. Though at this point she knew the wish would never come true.
Sighing, she sat up and looked around. There was no light, save for the small street lamp on the other side of the park. Persia could barely make out the playground over there. The swing-set she could see just a tad easier as it was for some reason far from the playground and right in front of her. Getting off the ground she walked over and sat on a swing. Alright so it was a little creepy being in a park all by herself in the middle of the night. But she couldn't sleep, so it was better than being holed up in her room staring at her ceiling. Swinging slowly she glanced around the park she really was totally alone. It was kind of nice actually. At least for the time being. In a few moments, she'd probably get bored and call someone, but for now it was just fine.
Still swinging she starting humming to herself. No song in particular, just random humming. It broke the slightly creepy silence that surrounded her. Next time she was not forgetting her ipod. Still swinging she pulled out her phone to check the time. 11:34 was what the screen told her. Well at least it wasn't too late. It wasn't even midnight yet. That was good, midnight was when weird things happened. Persia wasn't superstitious but she figured it would be best not to test her luck. In a little bit she was going to head home. Not yet though, it was too nice out, a little breezy but that was nice on a summer day. Tugging at the end of her shirt she plucked another dandelion. They were just about covering the park.
She blew this one out too, as if more dandelions would make the wish come true. Of course it wouldn't, but there was nothing wrong with a little hope. It was just a little, and it was always nice to dream. A cold breeze went through the park and Persia shivered wrapping her arms around her little body. "Brrr", she whispered to herself. Not that there was anyone around to hear her. Okay next time she was bringing her ipod and a sweater. Though she was likely to forget the latter. She was always bad about remembering things like that. Not to mention she tended to leave them places where they were lost forever.
Her mother was the same way. Her sort of, step-mother was entirely different. In fact she was always complaining about Persia losing things. Well really she complained about everything Persia did. The losing things was just another thing on a long list. Persia sighed again, trying to push all the sad thoughts away. Once again, not exactly managing it. Well at least she tried. She twirled the dandelion stem in her fingers for a couple seconds before throwing it away. Clouds were starting to gather, but she hadn't noticed. It was going to rain, and the poor girl was going to be stuck in the middle of it.
