obviously, cassidy logan davenport was not exactly the most suave handsome guy on the face of the planet. in fact, he had spent most of his life paying people to give him alcohol, drugs or sex. in fact, his money is what got him the farthest in life. not that this was necessarily a good thing, it just sort of was. cassidy had spent a large portion of his life being his father's son, and nothing else. he hadn't exactly made a name for himself back home, and the chances that he would actually be known for something other than being a rich man's son were very slim. that is, if he had stayed back in the states, and spent his young adulthood as a wealthy manhattan playboy. but that wasn't who he was. after a few stints in rehab, and a serious reality check from his father, cassidy was shipped off to england shortly after his eighteenth birthday. at least he still had his father's money to spend, it's not like anybody would notice it missing. so far, he had done well in school and was almost done with university, which to him seemed like a bit of a shock. nobody had expected him to succeed in any way, shape, or form, least of all himself. but really, he had changed. he wasn't the same stupid, naif who wasted his life away with cocaine and scotch. at least now he had mostly given up on the drugs, and only drank on occasion.
but tonight, cassidy was going to have a good time, and try to forget about everything that had happened in the past three years. he was no longer a child, at this point, cassidy could pretty much do whatever the fuck he wanted, and nobody would care. that being said, he wanted to stay out of trouble, and avoid being sent to jail for any sort of offense. ironically, his father wanted to send him back to the states to work under him as a developer, but cassidy would have none of it. he would much rather stay in london, and find a job that wouldn't require mooching off his father. even though he hated living in new york, he liked having the financial freedom to do whatever he wanted. but money wasn't the only thing that made him happy. besides, going back home would only make cassidy more likely to go back to his old ways, and he would just end up being fired by his own father. and honestly, nobody wanted that, especially him. he had no desire to leave a place he wanted to be just to make his stupid asshole of a father happy. besides, he was an adult, and had been for the last three years, and could easily make his own decisions without having to consult his father first. it was too bad cassidy's family was so messed up, and he couldn't talk to his mom anymore. mostly because he had no idea where she went after the divorce. if it was anything the davenports were good at, it was making people disappear. his father probably payed her a large sum of money and chartered a private jet to make her leave, and never come back. by this time, she was most likely in australia or somewhere else in the south pacific.
that being said, cassidy had tried to locate her many times, and failed. he couldn't talk to his dad about it, because all he would get would be some kind of long drawn out speech about how he shouldn't dwell on the past, and look to the future (the future according to his father being become the next great real estate developer, and continue to make a shitload of money). however, that wasn't what made him happy, and cassidy had no desire to do something that he didn't want to. and honestly, bossing people around while sitting in a corner office didn't exactly appeal to him. cassidy wanted to be a film journalist, but nobody would take him seriously if he did that, or at least not if they knew who his father was. living in somebody else's shadow didn't really work the best for cassidy. he just wanted to be independent from his father's death grip, and make a name for himself. he was talented, and he knew it, but it was hard to deal with all that stuff when nobody thought that he was good enough, just based on his family.
walking in to paper nightclub, cassidy just needed a night to forget about everything, and pretend that all this drama with his father didn't exist. sitting at the bar, he ordered a grey goose martini, and tried to contemplate how much he wished everything was different. even though he wanted to pretend life didn't suck, it did, and there was truly nothing he could do about it, other than drink his sorrows away, not that it always worked. but cassidy enjoyed his nice liquor. he wasn't going to drink some cheap vodka and soda, or just get trashed for the sake of it. he wanted things to be classy and refined, just like he tried to be. not that he always was, of course. cassidy had gotten into his fair share of barfights, and been sent to jail a few times. but that was before his move to england and few trips to rehab. he always tried to forget about those days, but knowing his situation, his father would just come back and remind him how fucked up he used to be, and how he really hadn't changed in his father's eyes. it was all so messed up, and there was hardly anything that cassidy could do to change it, except hope that everything would get better eventually. in the meantime, he just wanted to drink, and hope that maybe somebody came along that he could have a solid conversation with. finishing his drink, cassidy ordered another one, which may have been a bit excessive, but it wasn't like anybody could do anything about his alcohol consumption.

lilly wasn't a girl who could sit quietly & do as she was told. she had to do things her way. if she didn't like something, then she just didn't do it. it was as simple as that. lilly marched to the beat of her own drum & couldn't care less if her actions had consequences; sue her! it was summer & she was sixteen! if she felt like being a rebel then she'd damn well do it. if she wanted to run around on a children's play park with her friends then she'd do it. if she wanted to get drunk at eleven am then she'd do it & she'd do it well. if she wanted to wear the dress that was way too short for her these days then she would, & she did, despite her parents yells & screams as she'd slipped through the door. lilly was young & reckless, & she didn't see why she couldn't just do what she wanted. she wasn't stupid; she knew how to look after herself, & she knew how to get herself out of trouble. she was sixteen, not six. looking around her, lilly grinned, stowing her fake id in her purse & handing it into the coat check. sneaking into clubs was something lilly was particularly good at - a good thing, considering lilly was two years too young to enter. pushing the doors open, lilly was almost pushed over at the force of the volume, but people behind her pushed her forwards, & lilly tripped her way inside, instantly making a beeline for her friends.
she ignored the people around her, murmuring - or rather, shouting - apologies when she fell into them. her arm brushed against a particularly cold arm, & she shivered. lilly still hadn't quite managed to get her head around vampires; she knew they existed, & she knew they were illegal, but she was still unable to believe that they lived here, in london, with her. her mum & dad's worries about her skirt made more sense now that lilly thought about it. but, as soon as the serious mood had descended upon the blonde, it was gone, & lilly was soon with her friends, stealing drinks & requesting songs, dancing with boys provocatively just to get them to buy her more drink & pulling one in the vague direction of an alcove. lilly was no slut; she never had been, & she never would be. the only boyfriend she'd ever had had been blake, elli's brother, & he had also been the only person she'd ever had sex with. she wasn't a slut, but she knew how to have a good time. kisses didn't mean anything ( a frame of mind which probably contributed to her newly single status ) to her. kisses were just a way to get what she wanted. she didn't know how long she was in the club before she decided to buy her own drink; stealing drinks off her friends was all well & good, but doing that restricted her to at least half a bottle, not much more. making her way over to the bar, lilly grinned as a hand grabbed hers & tugged her back. it took her another half an hour to extract herself from his grip. in the end, phone numbers were exchanged, & lilly was free to go on her way again.
elbowing her way through the crowds ( & ignoring the subsequent mutters ) lilly ordered a simple double vodka & coke, pinning the tab on a guy sitting at the end of the bar. he wouldn't know, & by the time he found out, lilly would be long gone. taking a sip of her drink, she looked around the club, bouncing ever so slightly to the music. she turned back around as the barman tapped her on the shoulder, & another drink was placed in front of her. looking down the bar, lilly's eyes widened as she saw the man at the end wave his fingers at her. she grimaced back, grabbed the drink, & moved further down the bar, sitting next to a lonely figure. "do you want this? a creep bought me it, & i'm not sure i want it any more.

casually staring at his drink, cassidy tried to ponder what exactly had brought him to this point. he had sort of made amends with his father, the operative words being sort of. there was no way that he could please everyone. nobody could, as hard as they tried. cassidy hated that he couldn't make everyone happy, because all he really wanted in the world was for people to not fight over pointless bullshit. but now that this whole vampire thing was going on, it seemed that it wasn't possible. however, as long as cassidy managed to avoid it, he'd be just fine. and so far, he was doing pretty well for himself. he was still human, as far as he knew, and as long as he remained as such, things would be okay, or so he thought. nobody was going to try and kill him, and he would just remain a normal twenty one year old human being, that is, until he got older, in which case he'd still be human.
the only reason cassidy was thinking about any of this was because at this point he was beyond tipsy, but not quite drunk. obviously, drinking three vodka martinis would make just about anybody at least a little bit wasted. but he didn't want to be totally drunk tonight. he preferred to remember what he did the next morning, and hopefully not wake up to somebody who he didn't know. he had done that a few too many times in the past, mostly back home in the states, but there were a few quite attractive english girls that he brought back to his apartment. that was the advantage of living alone. he could do whatever the fuck he wanted, and nobody could really care. as long as his landlords didn't catch him with his stash of weed, he was fine. it wasn't like drugs were a huge part of his life anymore, but on occasion they did cause him to calm down, and enjoy life a little more. besides, when he was high, he was a little more creative, and could actually do something with himself, rather than just be some stupid lazy bum. after all, that was sort of how he was perceived most of the time. the lazy stoner who just couldn't get anything done. really, that was anything but true, though sometimes people just had to figure that out for themselves.
finishing his third martini, cassidy looked around the bar, just hoping to find someone that might be interesting to talk to, or just get drunk with. he much preferred getting wasted with friends than by himself, though at that point he was a little bit hypocritical. after all, three martinis would make the ordinary human fall over plastered. but he was not an ordinary human being. cassidy could handle his liquor like nothing else. after all, he had downed an entire bottle of vodka in half an hour, and just woken up with a bad hangover. according to most people. he should have been dead, but instead it just made him more tolerant. this wasn't necessarily a good thing, but it meant that he would remember this night tomorrow morning. and for him, that was probably a good thing. he hated forgetting things and blacking out, even if it was embarrassing. he preferred to keep his dignity intact when he drank. looking up, he heard a female voice next to him, "do you want this? a creep bought me it, & i'm not sure i want it any more."
"um, no thanks, i'm already on my third," cassidy replied, pointing to his martini. he needed to pace himself if he was going to drink anymore that night. too much at once could never be a good thing. staring at the girl, he noticed that she must have been quite a bit younger than him, but that wasn't going to stop him from talking to her. besides, he really had nothing better to do that night, so striking up conversation couldn't really hurt. "so, what brings you here?" cassidy asked. it was so cliche, but it was the first thing that came to mind. god, he felt like such a fucking idiot, but really, what else was he supposed to do, ignore her? that would just be rude, that was the old cassidy. the new cassidy was nice to everyone, and tried to be as social as he could. so far it wasn't working the best, but maybe things would change.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

her eyes immediately flickered towards the glass in front of him & she raised an eyebrow. she hadn't met anyone who'd turned down a drink before. then again, maybe it was because of her age. maybe, because she was sixteen, she just drank & drank & drank & didn't even think of the possibility that there might be people out there who were just content with having the one drink. lilly couldn't ever imagine being like that. she could barely imagine what would happen tomorrow. she wasn't one for planning things; she liked to live life in the moment, deciding things at a split second's notice & not caring about any fallout that might accumulate. lilly did what she wanted; that was how she'd always been. if she wanted to drink, she did. if she wanted to run around like a five year old, she did. if she wanted to kiss someone in the dark corner of a club, she did. it was as simple as. lilly lived by her own rules & if people couldn't handle that then they really didn't deserve to know her in the first place. if they couldn't keep up with lilly's lifestyle, then that was their own problem. she took a sip of the double vodka & coke in her hand & looked around the club, already bored of the person besides her thanks to the lack of conversation, & chewed at her lip. lilly wasn't anywhere near drunk, but before the night was over, she was planning on being so. she was the generation who thought having a good time meant getting drunk. lilly was thoroughly happy with this. it was no fun if she was sober.
"so, what brings you here?"
lilly turned back to the boy beside her ( was he a boy? or was he a man? she figured that he was considerably older than her, but by how much, she couldn't guess ) curiously, raising both eyebrows as his words slowly filtered through her tipsy brain. "oh! you know .. it's summer, me & my friends wanted to party .. we have a history exam tomorrow morning but we aren't particularly bothered. we're just having fun, y'know?" she replied, finishing one drink & reaching for the other. she took a sip & crossed her legs on the stool, pulling her skirt down with her spare hand. "how about you? are you all alone? why don't you go dance with someone? you could dance with me! come on, say you'll dance with me!" lilly grinned, tucking her blonde hair behind her ear. talking this much to a complete stranger was a regular occurrence for lilly; she could talk to anyone about anything, even if she didn't know very much about what she was talking about. she could bullshit her way out of most situations; she'd been doing so for the last four years. she did it all the time; she even did it on exams. if she didn't know what she was talking about, she made it up on the spot. true, it didn't really end well when she was given U's & F's, but lilly was far too fidgety to actually sit somewhere & learn things from a book. she liked to be out & about, doing stuff that she knew she shouldn't be.
she took another sip of her drink, before catching her bottom lip between her teeth. her grin widened, & she shuffled her stool closer to the .. guy's, simply so that she didn't have to shout quite as loudly as she had been. she could have sworn that people on the other side of the club were glaring daggers at her, wearing expressions which clearly screamed 'stop shouting'. lilly couldn't help it; she was just naturally loud, though maybe it had something to do with shouting at her step-dad almost every day, & arguing with cass over pretty much everything. lilly was the most childish person you could ever meet, &, where her step-brother was concerned, if he said one thing, lilly would usually contradict him & say something different. they'd honestly argued about the shape of the earth before, & about pluto, & even about cheetos. lilly just didn't get along with her step-brother, not one bit. "oh! i'm lilly! who're you?" she asked, her attention once again upon her almost empty glass. she wondered who else she could skav drinks off of. lilly was a cheapskate, through & through.
