and so, another day began. it was always the same. any human would jump at the chance to be nineteen years old forever. but now, after one hundred years of it, at a lack of better wording, it was literally starting to get a little old. jay had seen pretty much everything. and life was boring; nothing took him by surprise. nothing, nobody, nowhere. he had been around the world, seen all of it's "wonders." he sat up on his bed, lost in thoughts as usual. it always happened, it wouldn't be so bad if he got lost in thoughts that actually meant something. he thought that it was mostly because of him unsure about where his loyalties lay. jay knew he was sided with the vampires but, he didn't agree with the way the mafia were going to deal with the situation, and he didn't agree that the peacekeepers were the right way to go either. and humans, he had no idea what to think of them. on one hand, he used to be one, he could understand the fear they had for the unknown; he knew their emotions. but on the other hands, they were after him, after his blood, all because they didn't understand what he was, or who he was. so, really, if both a human and a vampire came up to him at the same time asking for help, he'd be pretty fucked. jay knew the mafia would probably slaughter him if they knew he had thoughts like this, but they didn't scare him. he'd been alive so long, nothing scared him.
jay left the building, quickly flipping up his dark hood to try and shelter the pale tinge to his skin from the rest of the world. it was the one thing that gave him away, the one thing that told people what he was. all of the places in the world he had been to: paris, rome, athens. beautiful places, and he just had to choose london to make his home, the place with its' own vampire mafia for god's sake. but it had originally been his home, when his parents were alive. jay had lived in a shitty little one-bedroom apartment with his mother after she and her husband broke up. after she died, a foster family practically scooped him up in their arms and zipped off to america, the site of his descent away from human-kind, and into vampirism. jay had came back to london as soon as he could, and he was still here today. not that he was happy about it. he'd rather be anywhere in the world, if he was being honest. but he was settled here now, he had friends here, he wasn't going to move now. no way. he picked up his pace effortlessly, choosing a route that was shaded over by towering trees. this was more his scene - dark, quiet places where nobody would usually go on a perfectly acceptable day like this. jay watched the ground as he walked, the snapping of twigs echoing through the branches overhead, and he smiled a little as a squirrel ran past him, excited at the prospect of a new acorn for the collection.
looking back up to the world, jay found himself at the park. hyde park, to be precise. the quite famous one for, something or other. he finally regained control of his thoughts, and decided to sit the day out on the grass. jay quickly breezed past a number of people. he could smell them - humans, their blood in particular. thankfully, he didn't need to feed just yet, so the temptation did not beat him. he found a large patch of grass that was untouched by anyone else, and laid on his back, folding his arms behind his head. he made sure his hood stayed up - for now anyway. the fresh air almost overwhelmed him as he breathed in. he had stayed inside for so many days, without anything to do but his martial arts, and he hardly ever needed to use that in life anymore. but still, he found the need to continue practicing it, just in case. it would come in handy one day, he was sure of it. jay closed his eyes, once again letting his mind drift away from him - which he didn't find hard at all. he breathed out that fresh air from before, it now corrupted with the breath that was already inside him. it was a warm enough day, so he couldn't see the breath evaporate around him. instead, he opened his eyes again, sitting up and scanning the area around him. it was a habit developed years ago - this way, nothing could take him surprise. but, it wasn't like anything could anyway. jay sat there, his head panning from side-to-side every now and then, watching.
ooc ; i'm sorry, my first posts are rubbish.

if larissa thought that for one minute, she'd get away with escaping london, heading as far as her car & lack of funds would take her, then she'd do it without a second thought to what she was leaving behind. which, evidently - was pretty much, nothing. she didn't get to go to university like her friends had all done after sixth form college. all of them moving out of the city & heading out, to do more with their lives while she was stuck in london, in the house she grew up in, surrounded by the family that she was slowly beginning to resent. larissa had always had big plans. she was going to get out of london, maybe go to a university up north so she could do an access course in psychology & work her way up, bit by bit. true, she'd never been much of a student when she'd had the chance, but she still wanted to make something of herself, larissa just planned on making the effort later in life when she had a chance. though, since her brother had gotten ill, she'd been forced to flush those aspirations right down the toilet as her family couldn't afford to pay for her university fees; she had no savings to speak of, no way in hell of being able to repay a student loan & his health was more important at the end of the day. turning to vampires for help though, that was probably the biggest mistake her mum had ever made. ever. the woman still had a perm, for christ sake and yet she had the stupidity to turn to the most volatile creatures on earth..and ask for their help. naturally, the robinsons were indebted to them as they cured her little brother's leukemia; larissa hadn't been expecting to be the one they chose to pay back that debt, however.
they treated her like she was some moronic slave; elizabeth was the worst for it. larissa had spent all day, running menial errands and collecting pointless trinkets, simply because elizabeth had told her to. she couldn't say no. if she said no, then one or more of them would punish her by using their sick powers on her. honestly, though. powers. as if they weren't creepy enough, some sick twisted force of nature had decided to make things even more difficult for the rest of the world by giving dangerous, blood-sucking demons, ability to cause even more pain and psychological damage. normally, larissa was obedient and it was degrading, being made to feel like some dog eager to impress it's master. they weren't her masters, but she owed them a life - pretty much. she hadn't offered herself up for the job either, which made her even angrier that they'd picked on her when they had the choice of all the robinson children. she couldn't do anything about it, so there was no point in complaining to anybody; there was nobody to listen & they'd more than likely find out about it if she was shouting her mouth off to other people.
larissa was convinced they were following her. at night, anyways - when she wasn't being ordered around by the mafia in the late hours of the evening and was finally allowed to go home once they were satisfied or bored with her presence. during the day, she was free to do as she pleased, none of them could go out in the daylight without dying, so no matter what she got up to then, they'd never find out. only problem was; she spent so long sleeping during the day that it was late afternoon before she even awoke, so her hours of freedom were few and far between either way. even now, as she left the apartment complex the mafia had taken up residency in, larissa cast her gaze around the dark and eerily empty street as she made her way home. elizabeth had wanted some harry potter book, but she wanted it from a specific bookstore and it had to be second edition. had they not had the book in stock, it would have been larissa's fault, undoubtedly she'd have gotten the punishment for it or made to go out and not come back until she had it. once she'd handed it over and been given a lecture about why she should be quicker in the future, larissa was dismissed like a disgraced child, as they were having a meeting of some sort and didn't want her around. that was fine by her, but still - larissa was convinced someone was following her.
she cut through hyde park; instantly regretting it as she made her way through the trees, mentally kicking herself for choosing a creepier route. she just wanted to get home, that was the fastest way for her to get there, but it still creeped her out. luckily enough it wasn't too cold, the fresh breeze that it her was almost refreshing, yet it still managed to send a wave of goosebumps over her skin. passing a few people on her way, larissa felt her heart jump a little bit as it was rare to see them out at night as everyone knew who lurked in the dark; some were foolish enough to try and hunt them down, use them for their blood and nothing more, while others didn't bother - too afraid to even contemplate it. from the corner of her eye, larissa spotted a figure, laying still on the grass and curiousity got the better of her. it was odd enough to see someone doing that during the day, but at night it was almost worrying. stepping closer, she almost screamed as the figure sat up, remaining pretty still as she gazed at the back of it's head intently. "excuse me..?" she could have slapped herself while her voice came out shaky and in a higher pitch than her actuall voice. stepping round to face the mysterious figure, she frowned deeply when she saw that it wasn't a person. she'd been around them long enough to know when she was talking to a dead person. "nevermind. sorry, didn't mean to bother you.." she meant to move away, but for some reason, unknown to her, her legs refused to move as she stood there, rather stupidly - gazing down at what she knew as fine well, a vampire.

why he had decided to scan the park he had no idea. it was your typical park scene, nothing out of the ordinary. kids running around pretending to be airplanes, the odd couple dotted about here and there hand-in-hand and of course, your loners. enter jayden. jay couldn't help but wonder if this was how the rest of his forever was going to be. every single day, pretty much them same, nothing out of the ordinary ever really happening. he wanted it to change so much. he wanted to meet new people, go on exciting adventures to far out places, kick the asses of some bad guys. all of this was what he could be doing with the gift of vampirism that had been bestowed upon him by some stranger. but instead, here he was, living in an apartment in the center of london, spending one of his days lying on the grass in some so-called famous park. he was wasting his life. sure, technically jayden was dead so, he didn't have to worry - he had forever to live yet. but that still didn't change the fact that jay wanted things to be different. he wished that he could just take a small group of friends, pack up his things and just go. go anywhere. living in london all his life had been perfectly fine to him, but there comes a time when you get sick of seeing the same things, the same faces every day. there comes a time when every person feels the need to break loose, and try something different. and right now, jay didn't feel very far from that time.
"excuse me..? nevermind. sorry, didn't mean to bother you."
he had smelt the scent from a mile off, but was surprised to sense that it had stopped close by to him. why would a human stop to speak to him. fair enough if she hadn't realized but...still. humans were either one of two things: they were either constantly trying to hunt the vampires down, or they were scared shitless as soon as they even came close to one. jay craned his around and up slightly, returning the girls' gaze without blinking once. he didn't feel the need. hopefully it wouldn't freak her out. jay was sided with the vampires, but he wasn't allied with one of the two extremes. he completely disagreed with how the mafia went about their business, and he also knew that to some extent what the humans were doing was wrong too, so he didn't ally himself with peacekeepers either. the trust was, if either of the factions asked him to do something, he'd probably refuse the both of them. still he stared at this girl, not in a menacing way or anything. he stared with widened eyes, as if asking her why she would speak to him with them. he guessed he should say something - the last thing he wanted was for this girl to run away; then other humans in the park may think that he was trying to do something and turn on them, and he really didn't want that today. jay started still, but slowly let a warm smile spread across his lips, looking up to her still. he wasn't really sure what to say, but that had never stopped his from anything before so, he just spoke.
"no, it's okay. really. can i help you?" he spoke to her softly. mostly because he didn't know who she was, but a little bit because he knew she was a human, and jay thought that she had probably guessed that he was a dead person so, he had decided not to say anything too much for the first time. jay smiled once more to her before looking past her, around the park again as he waited for an answer. jeez, the mafia would probably fucking behead him if they saw him speaking to a human civilly. hopefully they wouldn't find out about faith. shit. he hadn't thought of that before. oh well, if they found out they found out, he guessed. nothing he could do to change what had already happened now was there? in all honesty, jayden personally had nothing against the humans. he just didn't like the way vampires were hunted simply because of the humans not understanding them. jay sat up a little more, waiting for this girl to respond. a light breeze picked up, whistling its' way through the park slowly, each of the trees slowly beginning to dance in approval. jay's hair followed suit, and he sighed slightly, shaking his head slightly, returning it to the messy way he liked it. it sounded stupid, he knew that, but it looked...resonably acceptable so, he ran with it. he hoped this girl would say something. after all, it was better to have a friend then have another enemy, right?

when she was a child larissa loved nothing more than being taken down to the park with her mum, brother and sister; of course, they stopped going after aiden was born. her mum was too busy to take them all & a chocolate teapot was more reliable than their father. honestly, she'd never known it was possible to resent the two people who brought you life, so much. neither of them seemed to ever get anything right, it was fair enough to say that nobody was perfect, but there were some people who just shouldn't have been allowed to have children. maybe that was pretty harsh but as much as larissa loved her mum; she couldn't actually excuse her father's behaviour. he'd left them when they'd needed him most & if he'd stuck around to help them, maybe she wouldn't be slaving it up for the vampire mafia. then again, there'd have been no guarantee aiden would have made it, even if they had been able to afford the hospital bills. she knew how her brother felt about the whole situation & that made it hard for her to be mad at him, considering it wasn't even his fault, but on a bad day - larissa pretty much blamed the whole world for getting her into such a shit situation. though as she drifted further from her thoughts and concentrated more on reality; it didn't take long for her to realise why she could feel resentment bubbling away inside her at the prospect of her childhood memories. they were all from such a simple time, that she found herself wishing to go back though even she knew some things were impossible.
impossible, like seeing a vampire without wanting to kick it in the face; though, even if she did have the guts to do it, larissa found that her feet had sprouted roots and she was definitely stuck in an awkward position. she'd spent so much time around vampires that whenever she was around one, it didn't take long for her to recognise them. of course, she only knew the familiar mafia faces - every other one of them was a stranger to her. they were all the same in her eyes; even the "peace keepers" stephan and elizabeth had been laughing about them being pathetic excuses for vampires, yet larissa had been told to piss off before she could hear the rest of the conversation, so aside from the gossip, she knew very little about them. larissa wasn't even sure if there were any vampires inbetween the two extremes; surely there must've been - but at the same time, they were always going to be more inclined to one alliance over the other. she wasn't surprised that the vampire sitting in front of her and his unblinking gaze sent an involuntary shiver down her spine, his eyes were as wide as her own; as though he was afraid of what she would do to him, despite the fact she was more terrified of what he would do to her. larissa was sick of being a blood bank; few of the mafia members who couldn't be bothered or didn't have the time to hunt would simply use her while she was around. some of them taking more than their fair share. greedy bastards that they were. as he smiled, the air from her lungs escaped her; she was a little confused. it wasn't even a manipulative or sadistic smile he was sporting - it was almost...normal.
fuck. this was a test. she knew it was a test. stupid fucking mafia; they thought they could do whatever the hell they wanted, like send fake nicey-nice vampires to speak to her. alright, so she wasn't entirely sure what they were testing her on, but it must've been something. probably to see if she really could keep her mouth shut and be the obedient dog they expected her to be. she crossed her arms over her chest and glared down at him, shaking her head lightly as she spoke. "no, you can't help me. i thought you were a human...ill, or something." her voice had regained some normality, and now that she'd convinced herself that the mafia were behind this little set-up, a little confidence reached her. "but turns out you're just dead. anything else you have to say, or is that you done?" now hopefully he'd get up and leave so she could go home, have a drink and just mope about all night. larissa wasn't the most tolerant when it came to vampires, but nobody could blame her for feeling the way she did. the wind picked up, slicing through the fresh air and ruffling her hair annoyingly so, it fell out of place. she didn't bother fixing it or doing anything to sort it out, knowing that it would only get in a mess again. frowning deeply, larissa gave the vampire a quick look over - she wasn't going to just turn her back and walk away; she'd wait until he left first. could never be too careful after all.

"no, you can't help me. i thought you were a human...ill, or something."
as soon as she had spoke, jay couldn't help but look away from her. a new wave of feelings swept over him. it was like...rejection? almost anger. he sensed anger from her, anyways. but all he was doing was trying to be nice, trying to make conversation with a human instead of it being the stereotypical relationship. jay would rather talk to her than have him hate her. but from the sound of her words, she didn't really care for him, or any other vampires at all for that matter. she must have been one of the mafias' puppets. stupid fucking mafia. he knew fine well that he'd be dead before he hit the ground if they caught him thinking things like this, but he didn't care. let them try. he hated what they were doing. but none of that gave this girl an excuse to talk to him like this, did it? but he knew that he was not going to get angry with her. jay never did - he always did the exact opposite - he always suppressed his anger, pushing it deep down into his system so nobody would know about it, which, usually, made it even worse for him in the long run. why oh why did he have to be like this? everytime something bothered him he just let it bother him internally, instead of telling anybody about it. back when he was a human, this made sense to him - he had thought that since life was limited, why waste it getting angry all of the time? but now he was a vampire, he was immortal. surely he should have been able to get his feeling out in the open now?
"but turns out you're just dead. anything else you have to say, or is that you done?"
jay brought his knees close to his chest, folding his arms on top of them. okay, those words hurt a little, if he was being honest. why was she doing this? this was jay being honest, this was him trying to be helpful to the race that he was supposed to be against, this was a human completely rejecting his offer, basically. he sighed quietly, resting his head down on his folded arms on his knees. jay closed his eyes briefly, calming himself down, before opening them up again, looking around. the park had gotten slightly quieter: some of the couples who were sat down had left, but a few people had entered to replace them. jay watched a few of them walking for a while. he was incredibly relieved that his bloodlust wasn't very high - it was still at a controllable level from his last feeding recently. maybe he had fed a little too much last time, but at least it kept the lust down that little bit longer. in all seriousness this girl was lucky that his bloodlust was down, because she was the closest human to him. and of course, although animal blood could probably work, it was nothing compared to the blood of humans. why couldn't she trust him? he got so obsessive when it came to things like this. now this had happened, jay would absolutely need to know why, and why she was giving him this form of attitude. the light breeze that had picked up in the park faded away quickly, giving the park an almost eery feel to it. birds out of sight squawked loudly, and it echoed through the branches slowly.
he had sensed the girls' growing confidence as she spoke, and a small part of jay wanted to knock her down a few pegs. although he wasn't really in a mood for an argument today, but if she said anything else, jay decided that he would dive right into it. "...i was only trying to help...if you're looking for an argument, go find someone else..." he looked up at her and sighed quietly before looking away from her again, deciding not to say anything else until she responded to his last remark. he realized that his own words could start the very argument he really couldn't be bothered with. jay rested his head back down on his knees, wishing all relationships could be easy. why did everything have to be so difficult? hopefully this girl wouldn't react wrongly again to what he had said to her. how can "hi, can i help you?" be taken in a wrong way? why couldn't she have just replied politely and then moved on, instead of now potentially getting involved in an argument? so he waited quietly, tilting his eyes upwards and watching the sky. dark clouds began to swirl around slowly, corrupting the atmosphere and blackening the park around him. in a way, it was beautiful - the sky was large, open, nothing controlled it. completely the opposite of relationships, any kind of relationships. relationships were closed-in, constricted, and all the while peoples' emotions controlled them as they slowly destroyed themselves. he sighed again, quietly, waiting to see what she had to say.
