[/font]to ellie marie harris, shopping was the ideal therapy for just about anything. whenever anything was going wrong, buying something immediately satisfied her in a way that couldn't be explained. after all, she had been dealing with a lot lately, so retail therapy seemed to be the best way to deal with all of her stress. ellie hated life at this point, but she had to put on her typical happy facade and pretend like it was all going okay. yeah, like that would ever happen. maybe in some fantasy world where everybody got along, and there wasn't any sort of conflict whatsoever. while it all sounded like something that would be great, it just wouldn't happen. the mafia wouldn't let it. ellie hated the mafia more than anything, and really wished they would just disappear. all she wanted was for all this to be over. let the vampires do whatever they wanted, and get along with everyone.
every day, ellie was worried that somebody would kidnap her, or worse, kill her. she knew not all vampires were horrible, but after what she had seen, she had a hard time trusting anyone who wasn't in the peacekeepers. after all, it was a surprise to her to find out that vampires existed in the first place. to be perfectly honest, she was just fine pretending they didn't. but being the polite, supportive, person that she was, she had to do something. ellie would feel horrible if they were all persecuted for the actions of a select group of scary murderous vampires. she didn't want to be the next one taken hostage by them, and forced to work for something that she couldn't stand. to her, that would be the absolute worst situation. it was too bad she couldn't just forget everything that was going on. but it was too late, ellie had already chosen a side. for the most part she did it to protect herself, and to avoid being forced into something that she didn't want to do. however, if it came down to conflict with the mafia, she would pretty much be fucked. there was no way she was going to fight with anybody. but at the same time, she wanted to protect her beliefs and what she stood for. although she didn't want to admit it, ellie was quite afraid of something happening to her. admittedly, the peacekeepers had quite a bit of power, but they weren't out for blood.
walking into topshop, ellie was just glad that she had some free time to go shopping, and indulge in some much needed retail therapy. the power of shopping seemed to work much better than a therapist, and ellie just wanted to have a day to herself. while socializing would have been fun, at this point, she needed to collect her thoughts, and buy a new pair of jeans. or maybe some shoes and a handbag. whatever it was, she had faith that buying something would make her feel better. browsing the racks and shelves of clothes, and trying a few things on seemed to work pretty well when it came to lifting ellie's spirits. she felt like a total girl, and at the moment, that was a good thing.
being able to forget about the mafia, and how terrible things were made ellie feel better, even if it was for just a little while. no matter what happened, she had to stand up for what she believed in. for now though, she needed her own space and time. being surrounded by so much craziness took its toll on her sometimes, and the only way she could cope was by cutting everybody out of her life. she never meant to, it just happened. she tried to keep everything under control, but there was only so much she could do. ellie had already finished the half pint of smirnoff in her purse the night before, and she didn't have any weed left. so all she could do now was go out, and hope everything would somehow fix itself. that wouldn't happen, but with her help, maybe the peacekeepers could do a little better. clutching her purchases of a pair of skinny jeans, ballet flats, and sunglasses, ellie continued to browse the store in hopes of finding something else worth buying.
